Howdy folks! Long time no see. There’s a lot going on these days and I’ll post more in the next week but I wanted to announce our involvement in the Just Kickers Rally. It’s a great little grass roots rally to celebrate old motorcycles and I’m pretty excited. The rally is April 25-28 and dad and I are looking to ride the old bikes up there. I’m hoping the Shovelhead will be ready in time but we’ll see. I donated one of each shirt and a bandana for the organizers to raffle off. So if you’re at the rally be sure and keep a look out for us. Maybe you’ll win a shirt! Also, if you want a shirt, shoot me an email and I’ll bring your order to the show and save you the shipping.

MotoMonday – Jeff Cochran

Coming at you again with another rad MotoMonday. Jeff Cochran is the star of the show today. Jeff founded Sucker Punch Sally’s back in ’02 and arguably made it what it is today. He has a penchant for old school simplicity and builds bikes to be ridden and not just looked at. Although they all look pretty good! A lot of his bikes are hard tails but he has a few stock swing arm bikes in the mix too. This bike is a modified 78 FXS that was the first bike he built after moving back to Cincinnati and going solo again. He welded a hard tail on the original frame to keep the numbers matching and fabbed a bunch of little things on the bike from Stainless and it looks killer. You can see that craftsmanship exudes from this bike and anyone who really rides should be able to appreciate the amount of work that he poured into this build. This WILL be the inspiration for my next moto. Have a good MotoMonday!

MotoMonday – JvB Moto

This is an especially good MotoMonday for me because I’m back on the road. My bike has been parked for almost 2 months due to tires but I finally got some new ones this weekend and rode in to work today. Totally stoked. Ride the wild thunder.
Today’s we’re featuring another shop from across the pond but they’re good. The shop is called JvB Moto and the Ducati is the shop owner’s daily bike. It’s got some great little details and I bet it would be a blast on the Autobahn!

Yes I realize the irony of posting 2 shops in a row from overseas but hey, this is about motorcyles and I’m just selling t-shirts! Next week will be American.

MotoMonday – La Sal del Diablo

Ok so it’s a day late. Give me a break, yesterday was a holiday but this is a good one! I found this one a couple weeks ago on the Ornamental Confier blog. The Ornamental Confer did the lettering on the bike but it was build by Spanish bike builders, El Soitario MC. It’s a 1969 Triumph T120R set up to run on Bonneville but it’s street legal too. Ground up motor work, new electrics and a bunch of custom bits here and there all topped of by some pretty wicked hand paint. I would love to ride this thing.

I’ve decided to start a new feature on the blog – MotoMonday. It’s just a way to promote my #1 past time – motorcycling. So the first one comes in the form of another great HD Sportster, Biltwell’s EZXL. This bike is a perfect example of what simple, clean design can do for a factory bike. Some small add-ons and a little bit of fab work goes a long way. I love the polished mag wheels and the simple paint. See more for yourself on BikeExif here.

Featured: New Balance Shoes

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these but I wanted to start it up again. This time I feature one of the big guys: New Balance. This may come as a surprise but New Balance has been around since 1938 and is the only company that still manufactures athletic shoes here in the US. Unfortunately, not all of their shoes are made here but a quarter of all new balance shoes sold in North America are made here. They have multiple plants in the northeast including one in Norridgewock, Maine that produces custom 574′s from start to finish. You can custom build your 574 online and they make the shoe to your specs from sole to laces and package and ship it from right there in Maine. They also provide footwear to all five branches of the military including the Marine Corps Historic Half Marathon. The company purchases goods and services from over 38 U.S.-based suppliers who employ more than 5,000 U.S. workers. While 25% domestic manufacturing isn’t perfect, it’s definitely a start and it feels good to know some of the big guys are still trying to keep people employed here in the states. I know what brand my next pair of running shoes will be.
